Trick-or-treating and haunted houses are fun Halloween traditions, but sometimes it's fun to put a new spin on the holiday.

Here are some places you can go to celebrate Halloween in a new way in West Michigan.

Since you've gone through all the trouble of buying or making a costume for Halloween, you might as well get some more use out of it! If you have kids, you know they would wear their costume every day if they could. Here are some more places you can dress up this Halloween, plus some places you can go to celebrate Halloween without dressing up.

Haunted Trail

  • This is the 23rd year of the Haunted Trail in Marshall. The event covers part of the trail along the Marshall Riverwalk and the wooded area nearby. Performances are Oct. 16, 17, 23 and 24 from 7:30pm - 11pm. $8 per person. 12 and under should be accompanied by an adult.

Haunted Museum

  • The Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven presents their annual "FALLOUT" fundraiser with a special theme. This year’s backstory follows the the years after WWII, as the United States Government funneled millions of dollars into Project Castle, a military research and development study of new technologies such as chemical and nuclear warfare. Top secret test sites were set up all over the United States for various experimental projects including those on human subjects. Radioactive exposure, mutations, and adverse reactions to chemical testing are only a few of the failures the US Government attempted to contain. $8 in advance. $10 at the door. 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Not suitable for young children. Open Oct. 21 - 22 from 8pm - 11pm.

Treetop Terror

  • Treetop Adventure Park is a high ropes and zipline obstacle course next to Celebration Cinema North near East Beltline and Knapp in Grand Rapids. The park is hosting "Terror at Treetops" every Friday and Saturday. They are lighting the trees up with LED lights, black lights and other Halloween decorations. The event runs Saturdays 7pm - 10pm. 20 percent off regular admission if you wear a costume.
