What do you think? Should Halloween be moved to the last Saturday in October, rather than on October 31st each year?

According to WNEM, the Halloween & Costume Association started a petition on Change.Org addressed to President Trump asking him to change the date of Halloween to the last Saturday in October each year.

Their petition page is a bit weak. There’s a lot of stats about how kids get hurt trick or treating, but that’s on parents making sure the kids are equipped for safety and community members remembering they aren’t the only ones out on the road.

ANYWAY, back to the petition, it doesn’t really sell why Saturday is better that whenever the 31st falls.  I know a big part is because it’s always a better Halloween when it’s Friday or Saturday (unless you have a high schooler who does football, then Fridays suck for Halloween) because the kids can stay up late, you don’t have to work tomorrow so there’s less rushing.  That’s all true.  They need to really push that on their petition.

I’m also not sure I agree, and that may be why I’m all crabby about their petition.  What’s next? We gonna move Christmas too? NO.

As of the time of me writing this, the petition already had over 25,000 signatures. If you want to sign it, that’s on you. Just don’t be mad when we celebrate the 4th of July on the 1st Saturday of July.  Happy July 7th.
