Everyone's favorite meat in a can is being recalled.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the recall on Saturday stating that cans of Spam could contain metal pieces. Hormel Foods Corporation is pulling over 228K pounds of Spam cans off shelves around the country after four people reported that they found pieces of metal which caused "minor oral injuries."

The recall affects 12-oz "SPAM Classic" cans in chicken or pork flavor. The cans have a best by date of February 2021. You can see the labels here.

Hormel also recalled cans of "Luncheon Loaf" however this was only sold in Guam.

Before you grab a fork and eat your Spam straight out of the can, make sure to check its not one of the recalled products. The USDA says they should be thrown out or returned where purchased.

Any questions or concerns can be directed to Hormel Foods at (800) 523-4635.
