Attention fellow nerds! It's time for Awesome Games Done Quick 2018!  What's that you ask?  It's the greatest video game broadcast of the year!

AGDQ is a charity event that benefits the Prevent Cancer Foundation.  The event is a video game marathon that lasts for an entire week and raises on average over $1 million for charity.  The marathon consists of players trying to complete video games as fast as they can.  These players are known as Speedrunners and they are not only good at the games they play, they also study them and know how to manipulate the games coding to do some pretty crazy things.

I watch this marathon every year (my wife hates that I have video games playing on the living room TV for 7 days straight).  A lot of the games are played on original Nintendo, Super Nintendo consoles, so they bring back a lot of good memories from my childhood.  I suggest that everyone check it out and if you can, donate too!

Here are some of the games I'm looking forward to being played (note that the times may changes slightly):

Thursday, January 11th

  • Star Fox 2 - 3:16 PM
  • Duke Nukem 3D - 6:41 PM
  • Ori and the Blind Forest - 10:36 PM

Friday, January 12th

  • Super Mario Galaxy - 10:53 AM
  • Super Monkey Ball - 1:48 PM
  • Mega Man 1 - 7:44 PM
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - 10:09 PM

Saturday, January 13th

  • The Legend of Zelda - 9:09 AM
  • Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos - 12:04 PM
  • Diablo - 1:06 PM
  • Baldur's Gate 2 - 1:51 PM
  • Final Fantasy IV - 5:32 PM
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - 8:10 PM
  • Super Mario World - 10:30 PM

Sunday, January 14th

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 12:40 AM

So, I will pretty much be watching this thing non-stop from Saturday morning through Sunday morning (sleep is for the weak when video games are involved!)
