This girl is on fire! Well, not literally, but in terms of commercial success and/or chart performance? Totally: Alicia Keys has just tied the record for consecutive No. 1 albums by a solo artist on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop chart.

Billboard broke the news, natch, with a report that points out that Ms. Keys is in some pretty solid (and, honestly, somewhat surprising) company -- now that 'Girl on Fire' has given her six No. 1 albums in a row, she's tied with DMX, R. Kelly, Kanye West and Luther Vandross in the record books. And if we're just talking about female performers, then she was already the record-holder anyway, and her latest chart-topper only increases her lead.

Impressive as Keys' feat is, she's still a fair distance behind the all-time record, which the Temptations set with a whopping 10 consecutive No. 1 albums between 1965-69. And she might have been able to underscore her latest achievement by actually seeing 'Girl on Fire' debut at the top, if only street date violations hadn't netted her just enough sales to squeak it onto the charts the week before its official release; as it is, 'Fire' ended up jumping all the way up from No. 65 after hitting stores.

As Billboard points out, Keys is having an excellent overall week, with the album's title track and leadoff single also sitting pretty at No. 2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, held out of the top spot by Rihanna's 'Diamonds.' Something tells us those two are going to be seeing a lot of each other on the upper reaches of the charts in the next few months.
