Currently, a boil water notice is in effect for nearly the northeast side of Grand Rapids. The affected areas are located east US-131 and north of Hall St. all the way up to 4 Mile Rd.

Those who live and/or work in the affected area are being advised to boil water before using it for drinking, cooking, or cleaning. The water can be used for things like showering and hand-washing, but residents are cautioned to not get water in their mouths while showering.

Work on the broken water main that initiated the situation is expected to be completed Monday, March 18. But, testing will have to be performed on the water throughout the system prior to the boil notice being lifted. That testing process is expected to take until at least Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
