ArtPrize 2011 Draws Nearly 2,000 Artists To The Palette!

ArtPrize Grand Rapids is world-renowned and has drawn 1,996 artists to the competition's upcoming third annual event this fall!

Yesterday was the official deadline for artists to submit their work and space requirements. So far, 600 applicants have been placed. Others have until the end of the month to find a home for their artwork.

A year ago, 1,713 artists threw their brushes into the paint can for a venue to display his or her art treasures. A few hundred were eventually turned away.

According to 2010 numbers tallied by event organizers ... ArtPrize brought an estimated $7 million in retail business to the downtown.

This year's competition starts September 21 and runs through October 9th.
