ArtPrize Film Tells Story of Human Trafficking in Grand Rapids
A Grand Rapids girl was forced into prostitution at age 15 and spent 20 years trapped in that life. Today, she is helping others in Grand Rapids escape from human trafficking.
The film tells the story of Leslie King who was molested at 8 and forced into prostitution at 15. She spent over 20 years trapped and addicted before breaking free in 2000. Once free, she forgave those involved and began fighting back.
Today, King helps others through a survivor-led outreach group she founded called Sacred Beginnings.
