As I walked into work today, I stopped in the lobby to watch the big screen coverage of NASA's thirty-year space shuttle program come to an end.

History was made earlier today as Atlantis safely landed in Cape Canaveral, Florida.  Four astronauts took the trip into space to deliver a year's worth of supplies and food to cosmonauts who remain living at the International Space Station.

The Atlantis is officially retired and will be on display at the Kennedy Space Center.  All other shuttles will be shipped  to various space museums throughout the country.

What's cool is that one of WZZM 13's producers was invited to watch the landing.  Chris Zoladz tweeted from the site to share what he was feeling and seeing as history unraveled before his own eyes.
