Hi, I’m Steve and I’m a new Dad who has learned a lot of things over the last several months and I want to pass along some knowledge to you!

Each week I will be giving you some new tips for first-time parents and one spectacular Dad joke!  So let's get to the tips!

  1. Today’s first daddy tip is to look up do it yourself baby proofing. Sure, you can get all your baby proofing products at the store or online, but it costs way more and sometimes is less effective than the DIY versions. For instance, we have those cabinet latches, but they don’t fit some of our cabinets, so we just use rubber bands. Also, instead of buying extra baby gates, we are just using her kitchen playset and her playpen to block off the living room so she can’t escape. And finally, tennis balls and pool noodles are the best head bump preventers in the world. Because no one likes bumping their heads.
  2. The next daddy tip is to make mashed potatoes with every meal you can! Meatloaf? Mashed potatoes go perfectly with that. Taco night? How about some mashed potatoes. Spaghetti? A side of mashed potatoes. I say this because I’ve never hung out with a baby who isn’t bonkers for mashed potaters! Sure, I’ve only hung out with a few babies, but they all love it! Just be ready to clean up a mess, because they’ll shove those things in by the fistful and get them all over themselves in the process!
  3. And the final daddy tip of the week is to get your little kiddo used to shoes and socks as early as possible. We never really got Charlotte used to either socks or shoes and now that she has to wear them, she hates it. She’s constantly taking them off and putting them in her mouth. Ewwww, gross baby girl. And since your baby’s feet grow so fast, you don’t want your baby to miss out on wearing those adorable tiny shoes! I mean, Charlotte already has a better shoe closet than Britt or me. She has Air Jordans and Uhz. How the heck does a baby afford those? Baby shower, that’s how!

And now it’s time for an extra spooky Halloween dad joke!

Q: What is a witch's favorite lesson in school?
