Banning Birthday Candles?

There's a silent movement (well, it's becoming more vocal) to ban birthday candles. However, it's not because they could start a fire.

Here's why they actually want to ban the candles...GERMS! Scientists say that the tested a birthday cake before and after the candles had been blown out. Before the candles the tests were able to identify 183 bacteria. Afterward, they found over 3,000! WOW!!!!

Now, before you go ahead and say "ICK" just think for a moment about how long this has been a tradition that we've stuck with? A VERY LONG TIME.

The researchers say that we should purchase a separate cupcake or something and light that for the birthday person.
