If you've ever wanted to become a firefighter now is your chance because the Grand Rapids Fire Department is currently looking for recruits.

They posted a video on their Facebook for those who are interested on what being a firefighter for the city entails.

The GRFD website states that they plan on opening up the hiring process sometime this month so check back frequently here so you can submit application.

In order to become a firefighter some of the requirements include:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Able to work in all environments
  • At least 20/30 corrected vision or 20/100 for uncorrected
  • No felonies

All recruits must also take a written exam and agility test in order to be hired. Once hired, you will go through three months of Training Academy to get you ready for actually becoming a firefighter.

In addition to serving your community you will also have some great benefits that include tuition reimbursement and a pension plan.
