I've said many times before that lifelong Grand Rapidians don't know what a great city they have.  From the philanthropy that built the arena, convention center and a lot of the Medical Mile, to the savvy business owners who continue to invest in downtown, GR has a vibe that few cities (smaller or bigger) can match.

And there are little touches that make the city that much better, like turning Rosa Parks Circle into a skating rink every winter.

From my office in the Hungtingon building on Monroe Avenue, I can see the rink.  Usually it's jammed with people, especially when the weather is 30+ degrees.  It's rare that I see the rink without people, so I was somewhat mesmerized this morning when the rink was empty and freshly surfaced with the Zamboni.  Enjoy...
