BREAKING NEWS: Robbers Hit Plainfield Avenue NE Jewelry Store in Grand Rapids
UPDATE (2:30 p.m.): Police have advised area hospitals to be on the lookout for a gunshot victim showing up in their emergency rooms. There is an increased police presence in the northeastern part of Kent County, including but not limited to Plainfield Avenue, the East Beltline, and Int. 96.
UPDATE (2:15 p.m.): Officers on the scene have said that two Medawar employees fired shots at the suspects and that one of them may have been hit.
UPDATE (1:45 p.m.): Northview Public Schools posted on their website that the lock-down has been lifted, "Kent County Sheriff called and has given us the all-clear (the lockdown will be lifted)."
The Kent County Sheriff’s Department is on the scene of a jewelry store robbery on Plainfield Avenue NE in Plainfield Township.
Paul Medawar Fine Jewelers, 4518 Plainfield Avenue NE, was robbed about 12:30 p.m. EST Tuesday.
Police say five masked robbers went inside and robbed the store. It is unknown if anyone was hurt.
Northview Public Schools is on lockdown as police search for the suspects, the schools' superintendent told FOX-17.
