Authorities are investigating the shooting deaths of a Calhoun County Sheriff's Deputy and his wife.

WZZM-13 reports that the bodies of a man and woman were found in the backyard of a house in Emmett Township just before 8 a.m. Sunday.

Both the deputy and his wife died from apparent gunshot wounds, and a handgun was found at the scene. Police are saying that the shootings are "possibly domestic related."

The deputy had been with the sheriff's department for 18 years.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.

Autopsies are scheduled Monday at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine.
