Obviously, we have many more marijuana consumers in Michigan thanks to our recreational status and low prices, those who choose to get their medical card generally do it less for fun and more for the stronger and less expensive options that they need for their care.

Marijuana is known for being a 'calming' or 'relaxing' substance, but that doesn't mean it can make you more level headed in an emotional situation, and that's why federal gun laws attempt to crack down on consumers who want to own a gun legally.

The answer is a little more grey than black and white, but generally the answer is: no

When you buy a gun from a legal retailer, you are required to fill out form 4473 from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. This form is a slight background check to help ensure that weapons don't end up in the wrong hands.

On this form, you'll find the question "Do you consume marijuana". And while you may be tempted to lie and say no since they don't drug test you on the spot, it is a felony to lie on this form and if something bad were to happen, you'd likely get into even more trouble.

And if you're a medical marijuana patient, this question becomes even more important to be truthful on since you're on file with the state government as a marijuana user, which will pinpoint you even easier if you do lie on that form.
