Michigan State Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Monday on I-96 near Cascade Road.

Wood TV 8 reports that a bullet stuck a vehicle's door as it was heading east on I-96 around 4:30a.m. A spent round was found inside the vehicle.

The driver was uninjured.

Police are trying to determine whether the shot was fired intentionally at the highway, or if the car was struck accidentally by a stray bullet.

They do not believe the situation is connected to a drive-by shooting in Kentwood on Sunday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the MSP Rockford Post at 616-866-4411.
