A Listeria outbreak has health officials concerned.

According to the CDC four deaths have been linked to the recent Listeria outbreak that has spread through Arizona, California, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Texas, Utah, Washington state, and Wisconsin.

More than two dozen people have reported illness, and the CDC has linked prepackaged caramel apples to the illnesses.  No specific brands or manufacturers have been identified, but the CDC is advising the public to stay away from caramel apples for the time being.
