A Cedar Springs couple was visibly shaken at their arraignment Monday for the death of an infant girl.

The couple, Seth Welch and Tatiana Fusari, were in court on child abuse and murder charges over the death of Welch's infant daughter, Mary Anne Welch. The 10-month-old child was found dead in her crib last week. The autopsy revealed the cause of the infant's death was malnourishment and dehydration.

Welch and Fusari appeared stunned by the charges, which could result in life imprisonment. Although the couple was arraigned together, their cases will be handled separately.

According to 13 On Your Side News, Tatiana indicated that they failed to seek medical care for the infant "for fear of having Child Protective Services called, lack of faith and trust in medical services and religious reasons."

Welch has two older children, 4 and 2, who are currently staying with his parents.

On his Facebook page, Welch has long posted religious beliefs which included not having any of his children vaccinated, and preaching against medical doctors, who he claimed were 'priesthoods of the medical cult.'

On that same page, he claimed to be heartbroken over the loss of Mary Anne.
