I've lived in Downtown Grand Rapids for a few years now, and there are two things that I've always said are missing; a grocery store and a movie theater. But, it looks like that could all be changing, at least the movie theater part.

The owners of Celebration Cinema are looking to build an "entertainment complex" and movie theater just south of Van Andel Arena.

The complex will be on the southwest corner of Oakes and Ionia and will have eight to nine movie screens, and space for restaurants. That site is currently used as a city parking lot.

The Downtown Development Authority cleared the path for the project Wednesday morning by approving a two-year option that will sell the parking lot to Jackson Entertainment LLC for $8.5 million.

What other types of businesses would you like to see open up in Downtown Grand Rapids?
