A week ago, all of us were on the edges of our seats -- including sports challenged fans like myself -- to cheer on the U.S. Women's Soccer team that advanced to the semi-finals after beating Brazil in extra time.

Yesterday, the girls faced Japan in the finals in Germany and lost.
But what better two teams to make the finals than the U.S. who -- like a friend who sees a need -- has spent time and money helping the victims of recent earthquakes and tsunami's get back on their feet?
Yesterday's final was just as much a nail biter as any other game involving the U.S.!  Japan won in a penalty-kick shootout, 3-1, after a 2-2 tie.  According to WZZM 13, the last time the U.S. claimed the World Cup was in 1999.
Shortly after the game ended ... three celebs commented about the results and made Google's top ten weekend celeb tweets list:
Mario Lopez "Direct TV on flights is genius!  Saw the whole World Cup game in the air.   congrats to the ladies of Japan!  Game well played."
Piers Morgan"After all Japan has been through this year, I'm thrilled the country's people finally have reason to celebrate."
Tom Hanks "Team USA.  You are loved.  Thank you Boxx, Rapino, Wambach, Solo et. al.  What sports.  Congrats Japan."
