Chris Brown is facing up to six months behind bars because of his pet capuchin monkey, Fiji.

The musician has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of possession of a restricted species without a permit, Us Weekly confirmed. Court documents obtained by the outlet show the California Department of Fish and Wildlife launched an investigation over the monkey's presence in Brown's Los Angeles home from October 2017 to January 2018.

The 29-year-old posted a video of daughter Royalty, 4, holding Fiji during that span. The clip, in which Brown refers to the monkey as his daughter's "baby," has since been deleted from his account.

According to a report from TMZ, the rapper agreed to surrender the pet prior to a raid at his home.  If he's found guilty of unlawful possession of the monkey, Brown could face jail time and a $1,000 fine.

This is just the most recent in a long string of legal issues for Brown. He was last arrested in July in West Palm Beach, Florida over an out-of-country warrant from 2017 that was issued after he allegedly punched a photographer during a club appearance. Brown was released on bail and later pled not guilty.
