Police are saying that a Central Michigan University student attempted to poison her roommate by pouring bleach into her iced tea.

19-year-old Kayla Ashlyn Bonkowski will appear in court on Monday to face charges of felony poisoning according to The Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant. She was originally scheduled to appear via video from jail, but has since bonded out. Because this is a felony charge, she can not waive her arraignment.

If convicted, Bonkowski faces 15 years in prison.

According to the police report, the bleach/iced tea incident occurred at the woman's apartment on November 11. Bonkowski's roommate called the authorities, who looked into the incident. In the criminal complaint, police say that Bonkowski gave a written statement in which she told them that she had put bleach in her roommate's drink.
