Nic Ramos, a student at University of Colorado, Boulder, protested rising tuition costs in an interesting way last week.

He paid his entire spring semester tuition ($14,309.51) using dollar bills, a 50-cent piece and a penny. It took him two days to withdraw all of the money from various banks, and school officials were pretty shocked when he walked in with the duffel bag full of money. It took three university employees an hour to count it all out.

While tuition at the university has risen in recent years, it has not increased for Ramos. Being from Sacramento, he pays the out-of-state rate, which remains the same for all four years.

A university official said that no student in the past decade had tried to pay tuition with bills.

Here's the video Nic Ramos took the day he went to pay.
