Our text question of the day was "What is the best tip you have for making a sandwich?"  We got a ton of submissions, and we are probably going to be trying out a few of these.  Some are kind of obvious, and some seem to be quite popular.  If you don't see your tip on the list, put it in the comments!

Now on to your tips for making a great sandwich:

  • The best advice is for grilled cheese cook it till its golden
  • The best sandwich advice that I have ever received is the bread is just a handle
  • Does this count? Always use dill pickles (not sweet) when making bologna spread
  • Best advice I ever got was instead of butter on a grilled cheese use mayonnaise. But I don't like mayonnaise so I use Miracle Whip and holy crap was it freaking good. Nice and toasty golden brown.
  • Go to Boardwalk Subs and get it “rogue”. They put some seasonings on the bun and then toast it. It’s amaaaaazing.
  • Use mayo instead of butter on grilled cheese (or grilled peanut butter and jelly)
  • A lot of high end restaurants do this...it makes it crispy without being greasy and doesn’t taste any different.
  • Add potato chips on your PB&J!! Life changing 🙌🏻
  • As a kid if I was eating a sandwich outside and I dropped it my dad would tell me God made dirt and dirt don’t hurt eat up boy!!!

  • GM! PB and J sandwiches-If you put peanut butter on both insides of 2 slices of bread the jelly won't soak through by lunchtime. Have a great day!
  • Long story short. Use mayo instead of butter on the bread and use a variety of softer and younger cheeses instead of classic American cheese.
  • How to make the perfect grilled cheese.
  • Spread a light layer of mayo of both sides of both slices of bread. Place bread on skillet lightly toast one side then flip, add colby jack, provolone, and muenster then add other slice of bread. Flip and toast in pan until cheese is melted and bread is golden.
  • Peanut butter and jelly sandwich . Thin layer of Peanut butter on both slices of bread jelly in the middle so the bread dont get soggy from the jelly/ jam.

  • Sammi here, with some “sammie” advice: good bread can go a long way.
  • Every ingredient in the Sandwhich should be delicious on its own. Salt the tomato, good bread, good meats. Except for condiments. Don't just eat mayo.
  • I was at dinner with my husband and we were having burgers. When they brought the burgers out they had toothpicks in them. He then proceeded to tell me to move the toothpick lower on the burger, so when you bite it, it holds everything in place instead of it all falling out. Life forever changed!
  • If you're making someone else a sandwich, make it like you would want to eat it. No one wants an entire onion on their sandwich when they ask for onions! Would you want to eat that? No! Don't over sauce, is it going to be a giant mess when you eat it? I am very sandwich conscious!!!

  • My wife makes me sandwiches for work everyday. When she makes them, she puts both pieces of bread into the same toaster slot, so it only toasts the outside of the bread and leaves the inside fresh. They're the best sandwiches I've ever ate.

  • Run the stick of real butter around the fry pan before making a turkey cheese ham cheese or grilled cheese sandwich.
  • A story I just heard Sunday night: In prison, they don't like the grilled cheese, so they put syrup on it & eat it like pancakes. I tried it... It was SO good! It's even really good if you have ham in your grilled cheese. =Kayla
