Drivers will eventually have another option when traveling through Ottawa County in West Michigan.  Construction on the M-231 bypass is set to begin soon.  The M-231 bypass will connect Lake Michigan Drive/M-45 to the I-96/M-104/112th Avenue interchange near Nunica.

The project will happen in several phases and is expected to take about eight years to complete.  2012 and 2013 will be the busiest years of construction.  The entire project will cost about $220 million.
