Darren Criss, who plays Blaine on ‘Glee,’ was offered the hosting gig on ‘X Factor.’ The position on the show was left vacant when Steve Jones was fired earlier this year along with half the mentoring panel.

Criss is a perfect choice, given his darkly handsome good looks and the fact that he is blazing hot right now, with his starring role on ‘Glee,’ a stint on Broadway in ‘How to Succeed in Business…’ and a film with Kristen Wiig on the horizon.

Unfortunately for producer and show guru Simon Cowell, Criss said “Thanks, but no thanks.”

E! reports that Criss nixed the offer since his schedule is jam-packed — he’d prefer to focus on his own singing and dancing rather than host a reality show that centers on the voices and the moves of others.

A source said, “They were after him. But there’s no way he could have done it with everything he has going on.”

It’s back to the drawing board as the search for a new host continues. Last we heard Cowell was planning on having a male and female duo serve as hosts.
