This is not glamorous by any means, but it happens every time.

I use to work with a woman who sounded like she was firing up a chainsaw every time she cleared her throat before going on the air, it's something everyone in this business does.

Do you have something that everyone does in your trade?

For example, and I'm not making fun of this, I don't know one volunteer firefighter who doesn't wear his pager EVERYWHERE. It doesn't matter if he's 200 miles away from the fire station, or 30 feet away, that pager is on his/ her belt regardless. I bring that up because I have a friend who married into a firefighter family, and my old room-mate use to volunteer.

So, is there something that every banker does? Or every nurse does?

By the way, another example of what your favorite radio person does before they go on the air.
