ArtPrize entries that are placed in the Grand River have to go through many steps of approval before being accepted and eventually installed.

The first step is to submit your idea to the City of Grand Rapids, that deadline is Monday.

The submission due Monday is called a "pre-application".  The pre-application should be one page of text, plus 5-10 images of what you are proposing to install.  The city will select one or more submissions to advance to the next step of preparing a proposal for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.

Submit the pre-application to Jose Reyna: jreyna@ci.grand-rapids.mi.us.

The final permit decisions for Grand River ArtPrize entries will be issued by June 7, so we'll know if there will be another sea creature in the Grand River by then.

Spring is near.  Too bad those piles of snow at the end of the driveway didn't get the memo.
