Detroit Lions Marvin Jones Jr. is a many of many talents. On Wednesday, the wide receiver took his vocal talents to Nashville to try out for American Idol.

In the above clip from WXYZ Detroit, we see Jones showing off his pipes for judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Ritchie.

According to The Detroit Free Press Jones has a studio at his home in Detroit and first started singing at age 4 in church choir.

One of his songs,“Count It Up,” was played twice during preseason game warmups at Ford Field this year.

Reps from American Idol reportedly reached out to Detroit and Houston to see if any players wanted to be a part of the show.

About the experience, Jones told the Free Press,

“It was just a good opportunity. And usually it’s funny cause I’ve been in the league six years and there’s people that still don’t know I can sing. I’ve never really put myself out there like that, only when people were nagging me to do it. So it was just a change and just something I thought it would be a cool experience before I get too old to be out there.”

Jones' performance will be featured this Sunday at 10 a.m. on ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown.

The new season of American Idol premieres on March 11 on ABC.
