Rain or rain ... the 7th annual Easter Seals Walk With Me Grand Rapids event reigned at the John Ball Zoo!

I can't remember the last time I've had so much fun with a group of genuine, loving people who came from all parts of the state of Michigan to walk and raise money for the Easter Seals.
Last night, $63,000 was raised to help kids and families meet some of their financial needs as they continue to receive necessary treatment for autism, Down Syndrome and/or cerebral palsy
The entire Easter Seals board was there to walk their little legs off for these kids, as well as, all the wonderful sponsors including Amway and CVS.   Yesterdog and five West Michigan-area Culver's franchises pulled together to provide dinner-on-the-go!  There was also a cool 'Shutter Booth' to take those silly strips of pictures with as many friends as you can jam in one photo booth!   Fun for everyone, no doubt.
Let's not forget the face painting and caricature booths with Channel 957 and WXMI Fox 17 peppered in between.  My nephew is visiting from out of town and got his entire face painted green!  You'll have to find him in the photo gallery -- it won't be too difficult!!
One organization you will want to scope out is Family Hope FoundationLara Kitts runs the non-profit and graciously shared that in the one year that they've been in operation -- they've been able to help provide funds for 30 West Michgan kids to get the therapy they need!  Her foundation also has a neat relationship with Celebration! Cinema North to offer a family movie night and there are three dates coming up this summer.  For more information go to www.thefamilyhopefoundation.org or look them up on Facebook!
A special thanks to Denise Durkee who coordinated this event and treated Channel 957 like royalty.  Also, Easter Seals President and CEO Brent Wirth for taking the time to share with all of us how the organization strives to lessen the financial burden so many families face.
