Because the traffic patterns haven’t been messed up enough already downtown Grand Rapids, starting Monday, more lane closures are happening around City Hall.

According to WOODTV, lane closures will happen on Monroe Ave. starting Monday as crews continue work on the city hall building.  Construction crews need to bring a crane in to remove the temporary air conditioners off the roof.  Lane closures are expected to last until Friday.

WOODTV says in addition to the lane closures, a few more things will be moved around as well for the next week:

  • Shifting northbound and southbound traffic on Monroe Avenue to the western two lanes.

  • Closing the Silver Line station in front of the city and county buildings. A temporary bus stop will be added north near Michigan Street.

  • Closing the crosswalk to the main entrance of DeVos Place. The next crosswalk to the south will remain open.

  • Closing the Monroe Avenue entrance to the city and county buildings during active material lifts.

So if you’re needing to pay your trash or water bill, you’ll need to go in through the Ottawa Ave entrance and then take the elevator down to the basement.
