If you were disappointed that you may not get to enjoy the Grand Haven pier one last time this summer, you’re in luck.

Crews started working to restore the pier Monday and had the last 200 ft. closed off as they removed the historic catwalk for storage during construction.   From what we heard, it was expected the crews would have the entire pier shut down for the next year; it looks like things might have changed.  As of Friday, the pier was open to visitors with a few warnings as you entered the walkway.

A new sign warns visitors of tripping hazards as well as the Emergency Phone and Life Ring Alarms being disabled.  The sign also warns of the catwalk lights being turned off.

According to WOODTV, they were told by Grand Haven officials that the pier will remain open most of the time unless they need to shut down sections due to construction.
