Grand Rapids, Gateway To The Playground Of A Nation And The Furniture Capital Of America! [Video]

Yesterday we showed you some footage of Downtown Grand Rapids from the 1950's and today we have more of that post-war magic!  The first video is a furniture industry promotional video from the 1950's and it has that 50's news reel charm to it!

The next video is titled "Grand Rapids, Gateway To The Playground Of A Nation And The Furniture Capital Of America!"  After a little bit of research, we discovered that the "gateway to the playground of a nation" refers to Grand Rapids being the gateway which thousands of tourists swarm through every summer to the vacation in the North.  This film was put together in the 1920's, just prior to the stock market crash of 1929.
