The City of Grand Rapids thinks our park signs could use an update.

And they want YOU to design them.

They say the new signs should be "eye-catching and welcoming" while reflecting the mission of the Parks Department:

"To provide our community with inspirational experiences through the responsible management and collaborative stewardship of the City's natural, educational, and cultural resources."

The City’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will then choose a group of finalists to move forward in the competition.

The public will get to vote for the winning design Nov. 12-30 on Facebook and in person at City Hall, 300 Monroe Ave. NW, or the Parks and Recreation office, at 201 Market Ave. SW.

The winning design will be used at all 75 parks throughout Grand Rapids.

If your design is chosen, you'll get up to to $1,000 to work together with a design professional to produce final drawings.

“Whether you are an artist, architect, student or someone with an eye for design, we want to see your ideas,” Parks and Recreation Director David Marquardt said in a statement. “We’re drawing on the creativity of our community to help produce an eye-catching and welcoming sign that reflects our mission to provide the community with inspirational experiences in these beautiful parks.”
