Last year, Grand Rapids had to share the title of Beer City, USA with Asheville, North Carolina. This year, we didn't feel like sharing and after all 50,000 votes were tallied by the folks at Examiner.com, Grand Rapids came out on top. We are, once again (and this time without having to share), Beer City, USA!

Actually, this year, three Michigan cities landed in the top 4 in voting for Beer City, USA. Kalamazoo took second place and Ann Arbor came in a very distance fourth.

Grand Rapids tallied over 27,000 while our co-Beer City from last year, Asheville, only racked up 10,075 to come in third place.

Recently, Michigan was named by USA Today as one of the "Top 10 Craft Brew States in America", and having three cities in the top four in the Beer City poll is a testament to that.

To celebrate our victory, the folks at BarFly Ventures, who own HopCat, Grand Rapids Brewing Company, Stella's, and McFadden's, will be offering $1.50 pints of Michigan beers on Monday, May 20.
