Grand Rapids Named ABC World News’ “Persons Of The Week”

ABC News World News with Diane Sawyer has named Grand Rapids as their "persons of the week".

The selection comes as a result of Rob Bliss' production of a city-wide lipdub video to the song "American Pie" . The video is a single, uninterrupted shot featuring dozens of local people and places.

It is, of course, in reaction to that Newsweek article that called Grand Rapids a "dying city". But, the video has gone viral with nearly 2,000,000 hits, and has gained a lot of attention from media around the world!

Friday morning, Diane Sawyer interviewed Mayor George Heartwell via Skype.  Thursday, an ABC News producer also interviewed Rob Bliss, according to his Facebook page.
