Grand Rapids Public Schools is hosting its annual Back to School Celebration on Tuesday.

The event is at City High-Middle School, 1720 Plainfield Ave. NE in Grand Rapids, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The location is a change because of a forecast of inclement weather.

The event brings together GRPS students, their families and prospective families to prep for the coming school year.

Families can enjoy free food, giveaways, music and entertainment.

Kids’ activities will include games, bounce house, obstacle course, face painting, balloon animals, and arts and crafts. There will also be dozens of informational booths about school choices, special education services, after school programming, English Language Learner (ELL) services, early childhood, adult education, athletics, school safety and health services.

School uniform providers will also be at the event, so families are encouraged to bring cash or credit card to purchase uniforms, which are required for elementary and middle school students (kindergarten through eighth grades) this fall.
