Move over, Florida!  Michigan is stealing one of the top spots on the list of best cities to retire.  U.S. News & World Report released their list of the best cities in the country to retire in 2019 and Grand Rapids nabbed a spot in the top 10.

Grand Rapids ranked the 6th best place to retire, right in between Pittsburgh, PA (#5) and Nashville, TN (#7).  The report cites Grand Rapids' art and craft beer scenes, the booming healthcare industry, and affordable housing as some of the reasons to choose the city to retire.  The report also notes our "Midwest friendliness" as a deciding factor on why retirees should choose Grand Rapids.

The majority of cities that rank high on the list are either in Texas, Florida, or the Midwest.

Here are the top 10 cities to retire according to the report:

  1. Lancaster, PA
  2. Fort Myers, FL
  3. Sarasota, FL
