Grand Rapids Shows Off Plans For Along The Grand River

Holy moly! The City of Grand Rapids just announced their plans for what the Grand River would look like between Riverside Park and Millennium Park, according to WOODTV.

WOODTV reports the plan would be to update six site along 7.5 miles of river between Riverside Park and Millennium park.  Incluing extending the riverwalk, as well as increasing lighting along the river and creating numerous green spaces.

The plans look awesome and just from the picture the city unveiled and shared, it looks like there would actually be a place to get in the river, and it looks like there’s tubes there, which means at some point we may be able to rent tubes and float the Grand River.

The plans were announced Thursday morning, at DeVos Place and are the continuing conversation from when the city asked for community input.

WOODTV says the initial project would start late next year or early 2020 and that’s when the dam just below the 6^th Street Bridge would be removed.  They’re just waiting on a $4.1 million federal grant to start the project.
