The Grand Rapids Symphony has done it so successfully in the past, that they're going to do it again.....accompany a blockbuster movie by playing the full score while we watch the movie.

The Lord of the Rings, The Wizard of Oz, have been exciting moments with the symphony, and now it's The Matrix turn.

Tuesday, March 19th, “The Matrix Live,” under the direction of the movie score’s composer, Don Davis, and the Grand Rapids Symphony, performs the music of “The Matrix” perfectly synchronized to the full-length film, projected on a massive high definition screen above the orchestra and chorus.

This will be a 'one performance only' show at DeVos Performance Hall on Tuesday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m, sponsored by Huntington Bank.

The movie, written by brothers Andy and Larry Wachowski, begins when Neo, a computer hacker played by Keanu Reeves, is contacted via the Internet by a mysterious underground organization. The leader of the group, the wanted terrorist Morpheus, lets him in on a terrible secret: life as we know it is just an illusory world. In reality, people have long been controlled by a sinister virtual power, and it may be up to Neo to end the war between man and machine.

There is nothing better than hearing the music of a film performed live.  You experience the film in an entirely new way.  It will be thrilling!

Davis is an Emmy award-winning composer whose musical career includes orchestral and chamber works as well as numerous film and television scores. He created the scores for the entire Matrix trilogy and is widely recognized as a seminal and prolific composer.
