It was a new dawn and a new “Day” when Baltimore waitress Hallie Day performed the standard ‘Feeling Good’ on tonight’s episode (Feb. 29) of ‘American Idol,’ which marked her live performance debut of Season 11. She turned the classic tune into a bit of a torchy ode and she was almost flaw to the less. The girl can sing and she had some beautiful moments, and her imperfections made her interesting.

With her flaxen locks, Day looked a bit Old Hollywood Glam, but she remained modern in her ultra cute skinny jeans, blazer and heels. She looked like a star. But what about her actual perf?

Well, she started out slow and sultry, and then she built up to a powerful ending. Steven Tyler pointed out that Adele has brought back that “old timey” sound and because of her soulful singing is coming back around again. He noted that Hallie Day fits that mold perfectly.

The judges felt that the rendition was not perfect and questioned what type of artist Hallie Day envisions herself as. Perhaps, if America votes in her favor and sends her to the next round, Day can figure that out. But only if given the chance to chart the ‘Idol’ course even further.
