It comes as no surprise that 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:  Part 2' has had a big opening weekend, but is it the biggest ever?

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" made $92.1 million on Friday.  That made it the biggest opening day ever.  That's almost $20 million more than the previous record holder, "The Twilight Saga:  New Moon".

"Deathly Hallows:  Part 2" also set the record for biggest opening weekend with $168.6 million.  That beat the old record of the Batman film, "The Dark Knight" by about $10 million.

It's not always fair to compare movie box office prices between movies.  If you are comparing today's movies to those from years ago, you have to consider inflation.  Even when you compare movies from the same weekend today you have to consider ticket prices since movies released in 3-D can make more money with fewer tickets sold because 3-D tickets cost more.

Keeping these things in mind, money talks and the grand total of cash taken at the box office is still a reasonable way to compare movies.  Either way, the opening day of "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" blew away the old record set by "Twilight: New Moon".  Sorry "Team Jacob".

Now go enjoy some air conditioning and see "Deathly Hallow: Part 2" for the third time.
