Help Release Monarch Butterflies At John Ball Zoo On Saturday

It's 'Monarch Madness' at John Ball Zoo on Saturday.

Over 300 Monarch butterflies will be tagged and released.  Anyone attending may enter a drawing for the chance to hand release the butterflies.

Monarch butterflies are very smart.  They know summer is winding down in Michigan, so it's time to head south to warmer weather.  Over 300 Monarch butterflies will be released on Saturday at John Ball Zoo.  The release will mark the beginning of the butterflies' journey to Mexico.  This is one of many Monarch butterfly activities throughout the day.

The release will take place by Monkey Island at 11:00am, 12:00pm, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, and 3:00pm.  Visitors may enter a drawing to win the chance to hand release the butterflies.  Regular zoo admission is required.
