I know that Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks, and to be with family, and to watch the Lions barely pull out another win, and to eat a lot of food. But, to me, there are some downsides to everyone's favorite gluttonous holiday. So, I figured I'd share my least favorite things about Thanksgiving. In no particular order, they are:

Cooking

I don't cook. It's not that I can't, it's that I don't. It's mostly that I don't have the patience to learn. I have a fully capable man at home who does the majority of the cooking, I have the few things that I know how to make, and that's that. So, having to make something to bring to Thanksgiving fills me with so much anxiety that I mostly live the day on a steady diet of Xanax and craft beer. (And let's not forget, I am the girl who had to Google how to make mashed potatoes.)

Group Naps

Now, don't read this wrong. I love naps. Love them. But, a weird thing happens on Thanksgiving that doesn't happen on any other day of the year (at least in my family), and that is the group nap. Think about it, how often to you nap in the same room as your dad, your grandma, and your uncle Phil? One day a year. On Thanksgiving. The tryptophan in turkey causes you to suddenly be ok with napping in such close proximity to family members you may or may not even like.

Pumpkin Pie

I'm probably in the minority here, based on all of the pumpkin spice flavored items on the market, but I don't like pumpkin. I don't like pumpkin spice lattes, I don't like pumpkin scented candles, and I hate pumpkin pie. In addition to not particularly caring for the taste of them, I can't handle the texture. Yuck.

The Kids' Table

In my family, there aren't a lot of kids. In fact, my brother and sister are the only ones of us who have managed to have any, so the "kids' table" isn't really the kids' table. It's just a table that they stick people at. Being towards the younger end of the spectrum when it comes to the family, I always get stuck at the kids' table. The table is so low, and the chairs are so uncomfortable that I'd be better off putting the plate in my lap and eating that way. Or eating standing up.

Food Touching

Ok, so maybe this is me being a little OCD, but it totally weirds me out when my food touches. The turkey, the mashed potatoes, the stuffing, and the green been casserole all have their own spots on the plate, and should not intermingle. So, when I see my grandfather pile everything on top of each other and then smother it all in gravy, it makes me want to cry. Who puts gravy on cranberry sauce?!? So, in this season of thanks, I thought I would shed some light on things that I am not particularly thankful for. What's your least favorite thing about Thanksgiving?
