Here's a tip on the latest huge cellphone scam.  If you get a call on your cell from an unknown number, and it only rings once, do NOT call it back.

You might be tempted, thinking it's a super great job offer, or a long-lost friend, or some super-hot guy you gave your number to once, but it's not.

Turns out scammers in the Caribbean have a computer that calls thousands of random cell phone numbers, and then hangs up after one ring.  The real trick is that the number that it's calling from looks local on your caller ID.

If you call it back, though, it's secretly an international call and you'll get charged $19.95 to make the connection, then $9-per-minute.  Even if you hang up in less than a minute, that adds up to $28.95 extra on your next cell phone bill.

I'm not really sure how those charges turn into money for the guys running the scam, or what kind of trickery they're using to make it work, but the Better Business Bureau is checking into it.
