In a town where I use to live, I learned some disturbing news this past week. A website for Camp Ernest W. Brown in the County of St. Mary's in Maryland describes the camp as a "fun, safe environment" and one of the "most trusted residential summer camps" in the area." Those are actual quotes.

Last week Fox News reports, that did not turn out to be the case, as parents were angry when they learned that their kids were coming home early from camp and news that camp counselors "wrongfully instigated some of our young male campers to participate in inappropriate 'fight club' type activities during the most recent summer camp session." Are you serious?

Some of the parents told reporters that kids were being punched in the face and trained to fight back. The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington, which operates the camp and were unaware of the situation, did act promptly when they found out what was happening.

They immediately contacted the parents of the rest of the children in attendance and informed police. They also suspended the remaining workers and have shut down the camp for the time being. Camp Brown is about 80 miles south of Washington.
