Who doesn't love Jim Carrey? Ace Ventura, The Mask, Dumb & Dumber... definitely classics. It'd be awesome if Jim Carrey came to live here in Grand Rapids! Imagine chilling next to Carrey at Founders or running into him at a concert at Van Andel.

To bad it's a big fat lie circulating on social media that was first reported by a fake news site.

According to Fox 17, we should be super skeptical of the famous actor and comedian planning a move to Grand Rapids.

I first saw the story on Facebook last night. One of my friends had shared a link to KNP 7 News' article which claimed Jim Carrey was ditching Hollywood for GR. Carrey was even quoted as saying,

“I’m just tired of the L.A. lifestyle and the fake people, honestly, and I feel like, at this point in my life, I’d rather just live in a place full of real, genuine people. I’ve been to Grand Rapids a few times over the years and the people there are real… they’re genuine people, and yeah every community has its problems but the people there are good, decent people and they care about their community. Those are the things I find most important in deciding where to live.  I might be hanging out somewhere further south during the winter though!”

Tons of excited West Michiganders have commented on the story, welcoming Carrey to GR.

Here's the thing though, while KNP 7 News claims to be "your local news source", in the about section on it's website, it says:

KNP 7 News is a fantasy news site.  All news articles on knp7.com are satire or pure fantasy."

What a bummer.

I mean, I guess it still could happen. Odds are like what, one out of a million? So you're telling me there's a chance! Yeah!
