A couple in Kalamazoo doesn't have a home this morning after theirs went up in flames and firefighters were unable to extinguish the blaze.

A call about the fire came in around 12:30 a.m. Monday. The homeowners flagged down a Kalamazoo Public Safety Officer who happened to be driving past.

The home, on Skinner Street between Vine and 4th, had been condemned due to hoarding.

Flames were already coming through the roof when firefighters arrived. Firefighters worked to protect the homes surrounding it, but were unable to go inside of the home due to the unsafe nature caused by the hoarding.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
