Congratulations to Gilda's Club of Grand Rapids! LaughFest is up for a national comedy award. Which is pretty impressive considering that it's only heading into its second year.

Our friends over at WZZM 13 reported that Laughspin magazine, an online publication, nominated LaughFest in the magazine's 2011 Readers' Choice award for favorite comedy festival.

The Readers' Choice Awards have 11 categories, including favorite standup comedian, favorite comedy show, favorite animated comedy show, and more. LaughFest is nominated for favorite comedy festival. It's going up against some pretty stiff competition with festivals from New York City, San Francisco, Portland and Montreal.

The best part about this, though, is that the public gets to vote (it is the Readers' Choice, after all).

To vote for LaughFest just visit the Laughspin Magazine website, type awards as a keyword search, then click on Readers' Choice Comedy Awards and highlight the button next to LaughFest and then click submit.

We can vote for LaughFest up until the day the winner is announced, and that's this coming Monday, December 19th.

The 2012 LaughFest runs March 8th through the 18th. Comedians including Whoopi Goldberg, Martin Short, Kevin Nealon, Sinbad, Mike Epps, Rodney Carrington and Jim Gaffigan and are among the headliners.

Ticket packages are available now through January 6. Individual tickets will go on sale January 13.
